I-SIM Transmission Simulator

'TransSim' was developed in partnership between Eaton, the world leader in heavy-duty truck transmissions, and I-SIM, the experts in driving simulators. TransSim is a computer-controlled unit just like those used to train pilots, ship captains and others involved in potentially hazardous occupations.

Can we put you behind this wheel?

The simulator uses realistic sounds to indicate speed and power of the engine and transmission noise such as sliding clutch raking. This helps the student learn how to optimize power and fuel economy while avoiding transmission damage. The driver even feels actual shift patterns and is blocked from shifting into gear when real-world truck dynamics wouldn’t allow it.

The Transmission Simulator can simulate virtually any combination of engine, transmission, axle ratio, tire weight and grade. The following options are available:

  • More than 240 engines, including Cummins, Cat, Detroit Diesel, Mack, Volvo and Ford
  • 33 different axle ratios
  • More than 300 tire sizes
  • Vehicle weight options from 35,000 to 200,000 GVW, incrementally by 1,000 lbs
  • Road grade changes from -30% to +30% in 1% increments

Georgia Driving Academy has made this major investment to improve the quality of training. Students will receive simulator training during the yard portion of the training programs, thereby utilizing some observation time and applying it to shifting training.
